A 41-acre cabin compound in Pennsylvania is bringing new meaning to the concept of a weekend retreat, offering up a collection of cozy homes surrounded by a spread of picturesque land for just $1.3 million.

The jewel in the crown of the Clearfield, PA, property is a primary A-frame residence that sits at the heart of the estate and features beautiful California redwood-clad interiors, Douglas fir beams shipped in from the Pacific Northwest, and oak flooring.

Yet that structure is just one of many that come with the property—which also includes a brick house, a log cabin, and a three-stall barn.

Although the secluded getaway is currently used as a legacy estate, the right buyer can transform it into a hunting camp or invest in its developmental future.

“The family who owns it used it as a family compound, but it could also be used as a retreat center or hunting cabins.

The primary residence has a wraparound deck, private terraces, and a lower level with separate entry.
The stunning great room has a double-sided wood-burning fireplace and a wall of windows to soak in the views.
A spacious kitchen has custom cabinetry and a Dutch door leading to the wraparound deck.

“I think the next buyer will be someone who wants privacy, but also wants to be close to town and able to have their own horses. It’s really an ideal spot and could be used as either a primary or secondary home,” said listing agent Christian Lezzer of Keller Williams Advantage Realty.

According to Lezzer, the property was originally conceived by a local resident who built the A-frame and then continued to expand his estate from there.

“There is a lot of original custom woodworking in the A-frame and a lot of history with the property,” Lezzer said.

“Harry Fred Bigler Jr. was a prominent local man who built the original ranch-style brick home. He sold it to the current owners who built the A-frame and barn, and they lived there for decades.”

Built in 1960, the two-bedroom main home features vaulted wood ceilings, exposed beams, oversized windows, and walls of glass that open up to a wraparound deck.

The kitchen comes complete with state-of-the-art appliances, custom cabinetry, and a Dutch door that leads out to the expansive deck, which overlooks the lush greenery.

Inside, there is also a cozy, double-sided fireplace that opens up to the great room.

A separate three-bedroom brick home can also be found on the property.
A former loggers’ cabin moved to the property in the 1960s was transformed into an art studio.
There is also a three-stall horse barn.

A ladder-style staircase leads to a loft upstairs with two bedrooms and sliders opening to private terraces.

“Underneath the home, there is a huge garage and office with separate entry that could be transformed into additional living space,” Lezzer noted.

The three-bedroom brick Bigler home has exposed beams, hardwood floors, wood-burning fireplaces, custom wood details, and covered porches.

An original Chestnut Grove loggers’ cabin was moved to the property in the 1960s and later transformed into an art studio.

There is also a three-stall barn with tack room and hay storage for the equestrian lover.

Described in its listing as “one of Central Pennsylvania’s most unique and stunning properties,” the home is also an ideal escape for anyone seeking an opportunity to indulge in a wide range of outdoor activities, the listing agent notes.

“It’s such a cool property from a hunting and fishing standpoint with its three stocked ponds, trail system, and barn,” Lezzer added.
