File the Google Assistant settlement claim before August 27, and file the device one. If you bought a Pixel, Google Home, or Nest Hub since May 2016, it pays an estimated $18 to $56 per device for up to three. Have the serial number and a receipt ready.
Most coverage of this settlement leads with the number that sounds like a rounding error. Two to ten dollars, no receipt required, and readers reasonably conclude it isn’t worth the trouble.
That figure belongs to the Privacy Class, which covers anyone who used Google Assistant on any device between May 18, 2016 and March 19, 2026, plus anyone who lived in their household. It is worth one point against a $68 million fund. The Purchaser Class is worth four points per device, capped at three devices, and class counsel estimates $18 to $56 for each. A household with two Pixels and a Nest Hub claims twelve points, not one. The classes stack, so filing the device claim never costs you the other.
More people file the small claim because it asks nothing of them. The device claim makes three fields mandatory for every device you list. You need the model name, the serial or IMEI number, and an uploaded proof of purchase.
Serial numbers sit in Settings under About phone on a Pixel, or in the device settings of the Google Home app for a speaker or display. Proof can be a Google Store order confirmation, a line on an old bank statement, or a receipt from Best Buy, Amazon, Target, or Walmart. Eligible hardware means Google’s own: Pixel phones, Google Home, Home Mini, Home Max, Nest Hub, and Nest Hub Max.
A Samsung or OnePlus phone running Assistant qualifies for the privacy claim only. If you opted out of the certified purchaser class back in September 2024, submitting a claim now cancels that automatically.
Type GoogleAssistantPrivacyLitigation.com into your browser rather than clicking anything. The administrator’s second wave of reminder emails is landing in spam folders right now, and the FTC warned this month about recovery scams that trail settlement publicity. Payment follows the October 1 approval hearing, not the deadline, so the only urgent part is the filing. Nobody legitimate charges you to file.
