Online marketplace Temu has announced an integration that allows Shopify merchants to reach Temu’s customer base.
Temu has launched an app for Shopify merchants. Through it, Shopify merchants can list and begin selling products to sell to Temu users through Temu’s local seller program. It has made the app available on the Shopify App Store.
The integration serves as a way for Shopify merchants to manage product listings, inventory and fulfillment from one place while creating sales opportunities via Temu. Among the merchants already using Temu’s local seller program are PopMarket, Shop Succulents and Grumpy Butcher.
Each has shared successes since launching on Temu’s marketplace.
PopMarket said Temu is its fastest-growing digital marketplace in more than a decade. In its first eight months using Temu, it sold more than 450,000 items. Shop Succulents said it sold more than 9,000 plants through the marketplace in its first eight months on Temu. Meanwhile, Grumpy Butcher said it became the first seller of frozen foods on Temu. Grumpy Butcher said it increased its overall ecommerce sales by 12% in its first five weeks on Temu.
Temu is No. 14 in the Global Online Marketplaces Database. That database ranks the 100 largest such marketplaces by third-party gross merchandise value (GMV).
Currently, 118 of the Top 2000 online retailers in North America use Shopify as their ecommerce platform, according to Digital Commerce 360 data. In 2024, the combined web sales of all Top 2000 retailers that used Shopify’s ecommerce platform reached $10.496 billion. The Top 2000 Database ranks North America’s largest online retailers based on their annual ecommerce sales and more.
How an integration will give Shopify merchants access to Temu’s local seller program
Temu introduced its local seller program in 2024. It enables local businesses to sell and fulfill orders within their own markets. That helped Temu improve delivery speed and expand product variety for local shoppers, the marketplace said.
In turn, the companies are now enabling Shopify merchants to access Temu’s local seller program in more than 30 markets where the program operates, they announced.
Now, through an integration, Shopify merchants can tap into Temu’s customer base without building a separate infrastructure for each market, the companies said. Furthermore, the companies said syncing a Shopify merchant’s product catalog with Temu’s platform allows the merchants to instantly list products in more than 30 markets. That reduces operational costs and complexity, they said.
Temu noted three key features of its app for Shopify merchants:
- One-click product sync for fast, accurate listings
- Real-time inventory updates to prevent overselling
- Automated order and shipping coordination for smooth fulfillment
“Shopify merchants can now easily reach new customers on our global platform,” an unnamed Temu spokesperson said in a statement announcing the integration. “This app is part of our efforts to lower barriers and create growth opportunities for businesses worldwide while giving shoppers greater convenience and choice.”
Temu said it has made its local seller program available in North America, Australia and more than 25 countries in Europe. It is also available in parts of Asia, including Japan, South Korea, Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, Brazil is the only South American country where Temu’s local seller program is available.
