Apparel brand lululemon athletica inc. has announced new changes to its leadership team.
Its president of the Americas and global guest innovation, Celeste Burgoyne, is leaving the company. In conjunction with that announcement, lululemon said, it has decided to consolidate regional leadership across the company. In doing so, it is appointing André Maestrini new president and chief commercial officer, a newly created role.
Burgoyne had become the first lululemon president in 2020 after having been with the company since 2006. In her time with lululemon, “she has assumed roles of increasing responsibility and led the North America business through periods of rapid growth and expansion,” according to the company.
Maestrini joined lululemon in 2021 as executive vice president of international. He has overseen the retailer’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC) and mainland China, helping to more than quadruple international revenue for lululemon, the company said. Prior to lululemon, he filled multiple senior roles in his 14 years at adidas. Before that, he held marketing roles at The Coca-Cola Company, Danone, and Kraft Jacobs Suchard.
Earlier in the year, lululemon made another appointment to its leadership team. Lululemon hired its first chief AI and technology officer, effective Sept. 2.
The retailer has tasked Das with “leading the company’s technology organization and driving the development and execution of the next phase of lululemon’s technology and AI strategy.”

About Lululemon’s new leadership team roles
Burgoyne has chosen to leave her role for an opportunity outside the industry, lululemon said. She will remain with the company until the end of the year “to ensure a smooth transition,” according to the company.
CEO Calvin McDonald expressed in a statement his gratitude to Burgoyne for her leadership and contributions to the retailer and its culture over her 19-year tenure.
“She has been instrumental in growing our footprint in the Americas, creating high-quality guest experiences, and mentoring our teams across the organization,” McDonald said in the statement. “I deeply appreciate her partnership and friendship, and we wish her all the best in the future.”
Burgoyne herself called her time at lululemon both inspiring and rewarding. She said she’s proud of what the retailer has accomplished in her time.
Maestrini takes on the role of president and chief commercial officer immediately, lululemon said. He will continue to report directly to McDonald.
Lululemon said it is tasking Mestrini with providing “integrated oversight of all of lululemon’s regions, stores and digital channels globally.”
He also will oversee lululemon’s global commercial strategy. In doing so, he will focus on market expansion, revenue generation and accelerating best-practice sharing across all regions.
“André has demonstrated a proven ability to unlock opportunities, advance our global expansion, and deliver growth across multiple markets,” McDonald said in the statement. “Leveraging operational discipline, deep guest insights, and extensive brand-building experience, André is the ideal person to lead our business across all markets, including North America, as we remain focused on delivering value for our guests, employees, and shareholders.”
