Not everyone knows what freelance writing is, including some of your friends, colleagues, family, neighbors, favorite folks in your favorite hangouts, and probably millions of people across the world.
And that’s okay.
But if you write for a living, succeeding in your writing business means knowing every little tool, skill, and hack you can arm yourself with to thrive, including “trade secrets” being passed around from one writer to another.
As someone who used to work in the corporate world, where I interviewed contractors and vendors to collaborate with, I understand some of the key elements potential clients are looking for.
Based on my experience, contractors who usually win the contract:
- Exhibit a deep understanding of the job they need to deliver
- Deeply understand the client and the client’s business, including its market, competition, and goals
- Have demonstrated expertise and high-level skills to get the job done
- Have the capacity, a team, and/or the premium tools to get the job done
- Can deliver with the highest quality, reliability, and accuracy on time
