A giant dialogue amongst writers lately is whether or not to stay with Medium. There are at all times choices. Substack ceaselessly makes it into the dialog as a doable alternative. There are others like Patreon. In fact, writers aren’t restricted to at least one alternative. I write for 2 — Medium and Substack.

However extra attention-grabbing to me than the alternatives we face is how frequent it’s for writers to really feel pessimistic in regards to the alternatives inside Medium. It feels sudden and pronounced. Right here is my speculation as to why there’s a lack of religion within the promise of Medium, which is partially knowledgeable by my very own private expertise.

My speculation
