Almost one year after Amazon Business unveiled its Amazon Business Assistant in 2025, the business-to-business (B2B)-focused side of Amazon announced two ways in which it will seek to improve procurement for the buyers that it serves.
The new capabilities, revealed at the Amazon Business Reshape event in Nashville on Oct. 27, cover new Business Assistant enhancements, as well as an experience that the company refers to as Amazon Business Value Intelligence.
Both announcements include visibility and options aimed at procurement pain points in hopes of boosting Amazon Business sales.
What Amazon Business is adding to its procurement experience
Amazon characterized the new Business Assistant abilities as an expansion “from a general-purpose resource into a conversational tool that speaks to each customer’s business account orders, spend, and activity” in a blog post published Oct. 27.
“Every hour a procurement team spends chasing approvals or manually reconciling invoices is an hour they’re not spending on the work that moves their organization forward,” said Shelley Salomon, worldwide vice president of Amazon Business, in a released statement. “Amazon Business Assistant now steps in to handle the repetitive, time-consuming tasks that slow teams down, so they can focus on finding the right products, managing supplier relationships, and driving real value across their business.”
Specifically, the Business Assistant enhancements included order tracking, approvals process information, savings recommendations, integrated payment allocation options and spending analysis.
The features are available to Amazon Business customers in the U.S. through their account pages.
What is Amazon Business Value Intelligence?
Meanwhile, Amazon Business Value Intelligence will offer U.S.-based buyers new ways to understand savings, operational efficiency and purchase compliance. The information will be based on an organization’s own Amazon Business data, viewed alongside third-party benchmarks that Amazon Business tracks.
“Procurement has always been about more than price, but price is what gets reported because it’s the easiest thing to measure,” said Salomon. “We designed Value Intelligence to change the conversation from ‘what did this cost?’ to ‘what value is procurement creating?’”
Amazon Business is positioning Value Intelligence as a tool to communicate these outcomes to management and finance teams.
“Now leaders can see the savings, time back, and off-policy spend prevented in one view, and confidently show the full impact of their buying strategy, not just the price,” she stated.
The company pitched the features as means to lend credibility to strategy and decisions with data to support its conclusions. Ultimately, the intent is to provide procurement managers with reports that can be shared in their organizations so that finance teams can reconcile numbers and parties can align on stories about results and value being produced.
