I didn’t join Medium to make money. I just needed somewhere to dump all the articles that didn’t fit into my gaming blog.
Back in 2020, I was transforming my blog from a business blog into a gaming blog, and suddenly all my old content about self-help, solopreneurship, and social media strategy felt like orphans. But I also didn’t want them to disappear. Medium felt like the right place to house them.
At the time, I wasn’t thinking about building an audience or chasing “the algorithm.” I certainly didn’t imagine I’d be talking about writing as a serious career five years later.
But here we are.
The Accidental Start
My very first Medium article was called 10 Productive Ways on How to Spend Your Idle Time. Nothing groundbreaking. It just practical ideas for people stuck in that “I should be doing something, but what?” zone as I found myself in most of the time.
