A fashion designer whose work was behind one of Hollywood‘s most unforgettable movie moments is now preparing to say goodbye to another piece of her Los Angeles legacy: a stunning Beverly Hills retreat that she has called home for decades.

Dina Bar-El, a couture designer celebrated for dressing countless stars, is perhaps best known as the mastermind behind the iconic yellow silk gown worn by actress Kate Hudson in the hit 2003 romantic comedy “How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days.”

While she made her name in fashion, Bar-El’s Beverly Hills abode—which is now on the market for $8.5 million—proves that she boasts plenty of talent in another creative arena: interior design.

Hidden behind mature hedges and a gated entry on a half-acre lot, the lavish dwelling offers more than 5,200 square feet of refined living space, blending timeless architecture with resort-inspired amenities just minutes from some of Los Angeles’ most famous destinations.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home, which is located in the storied 90210 ZIP code, is designed to embrace California‘s indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

“Recently reimagined in late 2025, the residence was thoughtfully designed to embrace both intimate family living and effortless entertaining,” the listing notes.

Soaring ceilings, skylights, and French doors fill the interiors with natural light, while garden views appear throughout much of the property.

“Sunlight pours through soaring ceilings, creating interiors that feel warm, open, and deeply connected to the surrounding gardens,” the description continues.

For those with a fondness for entertaining, the home’s many living spaces—which can be found both inside and out—will no doubt be the biggest draw. A beautiful open-plan kitchen features a casual dining area, while a formal dining room serves as the ideal place to host upscale gatherings.

That space then leads into an elegant sitting room with a large fireplace, while a stylish bar area provides another fun space to host guests.

A lower-level living area can easily function as a media room, home office, guest quarters, or bonus recreation space.

The main-level primary suite serves as a secluded sanctuary, opening directly onto the landscaped grounds.

It features spacious dressing areas and a spa-inspired bathroom, which is certainly one of the crown jewels of the property. The listing describing this space as “an Italian porcelain bath and a marble bath, generous dressing areas, and serene garden views create a daily experience reminiscent of a boutique resort.”

There is also a private outdoor space where residents can enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the mornings or watch the sun set over their property each evening.

Upstairs, additional bedroom suites are arranged around a comfortable family lounge, creating flexible spaces for both entertaining and quiet relaxation.

Outside, the backyard is centered around a resort-style pool and spa, complemented by a natural waterfall that adds a peaceful soundtrack to the lush surroundings.

“Every path, terrace, and garden has been carefully composed to create an atmosphere of effortless tranquility, a place where weekends linger a little longer and every sunset feels like a private escape,” the listing notes.

Large trees surround the home, helping it to feel like a secluded sanctuary, despite its location in one of the most iconic communities in the world.

“Rarely does an estate offer such an extraordinary combination of seclusion, scale, and proximity to the very best of Beverly Hills. This is more than a residence; it is a destination for those who value privacy, beauty, and a life lived exceptionally well,” the listing adds.

Bar-El has long been a favorite among Hollywood’s elite, with clients including Victoria Beckham, Nancy O’Dell, and Katharine McPhee.

While her designs have graced red carpets for decades, her association with Hudson’s instantly recognizable gown from the beloved romantic comedy remains one of her most enduring contributions to pop culture.

Now, the designer is passing along the private Beverly Hills escape she created, offering buyers the chance to own a home that reflects the same elegance and sophistication that have defined her fashion career.
