Are you looking for the best side hustles for couples?

I have done many side hustles over the years with my husband, and I know many other couples who have too.

There are so many reasons to want to make extra money as a couple. Maybe you want to save for a house, pay off debt, build up your travel fund, have more breathing room in your budget, or maybe you just want to spend more time together and make money at the same time.

Working together on a side hustle can be really rewarding. You may be able to split up the tasks, help each other stay motivated, and even have more fun than if you were trying to do it all alone. One person may be better at talking to customers, while the other is better at organizing, doing the behind-the-scenes work, or managing the numbers. That can make things feel a lot easier.

In today’s article, I’m sharing the best side hustles for couples, including online ideas, service-based businesses, flexible side gigs, and even travel-friendly jobs.

19 Best Side Hustles for Couples

Below are some of the best ways for couples to make extra money together.

1. Start a blog

Blogging is one of my favorite side hustles for couples because there are so many different things to do. And, I have met many, many bloggers over the years who run their blogs with their partner.

One person can write blog posts, while the other works on Pinterest, social media, editing, taking pictures, formatting, working with sponsors, or writing email newsletters. Or maybe one of you enjoys the writing side, and the other likes affiliate marketing and the tech side. There are a lot of ways to divide up the work.

This is also a great option if you want something that can start small and grow over time. A blog can start as a side hustle and turn into something much bigger.

I have been blogging for many years, and I have earned over $5,000,000 from my blog over the years. My husband and I get to work from home, which has always been really nice!

If I were starting a blog as a couple, I would choose a topic that you both care about or at least understand. That could be travel, parenting, RV life, pets, budgeting, home projects, gardening, outdoor adventures, food, or a passion that one of you has. Then I would decide early on who is doing what so that there is less confusion.

Blogging does take time, but it can be very flexible, which makes it a great fit for couples who want to work on something together in the mornings, evenings, or weekends.

2. Workamping (aka work camping)

We have RVed for over 10 years now, and we have met so many couples who are work campers. And I’ve always said that if I had to get an in-person job, I would look for a work camping gig because you get to work in the most beautiful places.

Work camping is when you work at a campground, RV park, national park, resort, or similar place, usually in exchange for pay and a free campsite. It can be a great fit for couples because there are often different jobs each person can do, such as office work, guest check-ins, cleaning, groundskeeping, maintenance, or other campground tasks.

Workamping can be a really fun job for couples, especially if you like RVing, traveling, or spending time outdoors.

And, I have seen many workamping job listings over the years that have specifically asked for couples (yes, they WANT/NEED couples specifically for the job).

This can be a great way to make money while also living in a place you enjoy for a season. Some couples use workamping as a way to travel more, lower their living costs, and try something new.

3. Flip items for resale

I know many couples who flip items for resale as their side hustle. One couple I know travels the country together and looks for items to flip, such as by going to flea markets in different states.

Flipping is a great side hustle because it is easy to break into different tasks that need to be done.

One person can go to thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales, and Facebook Marketplace to find things to buy. The other person can clean the items, take photos, write listings, answer messages, and handle shipping or meetups. Or, you can do it all together and spend time looking for items to flip together.

4. Pet sitting in your own home

Pet sitting at home can be a great side hustle for couples, especially if one or both of you are already home a lot during the day and you are both animal lovers.

I like this idea because it can fit into your normal routine pretty well if you enjoy animals and have the right setup at home.

If you want to start, I would begin small. Maybe only take one dog at a time at first so you can see what works and what doesn’t. Also, don’t forget to make sure you are very clear with pet owners about your rules, schedule, and what you offer (like the ability to administer shots to animals, etc.).

You can learn about how one couple does this at How We Make $12,000 a Year Dog Sitting From Home.

5. Resell mattresses

One way couples can make extra money is by reselling returned mattresses through a platform called Sharetown.

Sharetown is a company that connects people with returned oversized items, like mattresses, so they can pick them up locally and resell them in their area.

This can be a good side hustle for couples because there are usually a few different tasks involved, which makes it easier to split up the work.

For example, you need to pick up the mattress, move it, store it, and meet with buyers. You also need to create listings, answer messages, set the price, and coordinate pickup times. Since mattresses are large and can be hard to move by yourself, this is one side hustle where having a partner is needed.

You may be wondering why a company would pay you to do this. Basically, some companies sell large items like mattresses (like online mattress stores) and then do not want to deal with the cost and hassle of getting customer returns back to a warehouse. Shipping a returned mattress, storing it, and processing it can be expensive after all. So instead, they may work with local people who can pick up the item and resell it nearby. This can save the company money, and it gives you a way to earn extra income.

6. Sell printables on Etsy

Selling printables is a flexible side hustle if you want something low-cost that you can do from home.

One person can create the printable designs, and the other can upload listings, do keyword research, answer customer questions, and manage the shop. This can be a really nice fit if one of you is more creative and the other likes the more technical or organized side.

You could sell things like:

  • Planners
  • Meal plans
  • Budget binders
  • Wedding printables
  • Chore charts
  • Greeting cards
  • Homeschool worksheets
  • Wall art

And more.

This is a side hustle that can take time to build, but it can also be very scalable.

7. Rent out a room, RV, boat, or property

If you already own something that other people may want to rent, this can be a smart way to make extra money as a couple.

Maybe that is a guest room, an RV (you can rent out your RV on sites like RVshare), a boat, a trailer, a vacation home, or even storage space.

One person can manage the listing, messages, bookings, and check-ins, while the other handles cleaning, maintenance, and turnovers (or a mix of whatever you want to do!).

8. Start a photography business

Photography can be a really good side hustle for couples (or even a full-time business idea for couples) because there are so many moving parts.

One person may be the main photographer, while the other helps with logistics, editing, scheduling, gear setup, client communication, contracts, or even helping during sessions. If you shoot weddings or events, having two people can be especially helpful (in fact, I know a few wedding photography companies that are a husband and wife team).

This can work for family photos, weddings, maternity shoots, real estate photography, events, senior photos, and mini sessions.

9. Deliver food or groceries

Food delivery or grocery delivery is one of the easier side hustles to start because you can usually begin pretty quickly.

One person can drive while the other helps with navigation, double-checking orders, and keeping things organized. That may help you move faster and avoid mistakes.

This can be a good side hustle if you want something flexible that you can do in the evenings or on weekends. It may not be the highest-paying option in every area, but it can be a way to bring in extra money.

My tip would be to go during busy times, pay attention to which areas have the best orders, and track your mileage and gas.

10. Start a house cleaning business

A cleaning business is one of the more straightforward side hustles for couples.

You can usually get started without a huge upfront investment (you just need cleaning supplies), and having two people can help you get through homes more quickly and take on more clients.

One thing I like about this idea is that it can be very consistent if you build up recurring clients. Instead of always searching for new one-time jobs, you may be able to clean the same homes on a regular schedule.

11. Run a YouTube channel

There are many YouTube channels that are run by couples, such as Kara and Nate and Gone With The Wynns.

A YouTube channel can be a fun side hustle for couples, especially if you like the same things and want to talk about them.

Maybe that is RV life, travel, cooking, home projects, gardening, budgeting, parenting, fishing, hiking, or simple living. One person can be on camera while the other films, edits, makes thumbnails, and uploads videos, for example. Or, you can do everything together.

12. Sell crafts or handmade products

If one or both of you like making things, this can be a really good side hustle.

You could sell candles, soaps, jewelry, wood signs, holiday decor, pet accessories, gifts, baked goods, art, or custom products. One person can focus on making the products while the other handles packing, customer service, listings (like on an Etsy shop), or local markets.

13. Run a food business

A food business can be an interesting side hustle for couples.

This could mean baking, meal prep, freezer meals, specialty snacks, farmers market food, or even a small food stand, depending on where you live and what is allowed.

This can work well for couples because there are usually different roles that need to be done. One person may enjoy the cooking or baking side, while the other handles packaging, marketing, customer orders, or local deliveries.

I would definitely look into local rules before starting, because food businesses can have specific requirements. But for couples who enjoy cooking and serving others, this can be a great idea.

14. Become wedding or event vendors

There are so many ways for couples to make money in the wedding and event world.

You could sell photo booth rentals, day-of coordination, bartending, event setup, florals, signage, DJ services, or decorating help. Since events usually involve a lot of moving parts, this can be a natural fit for two people.

For example, one person may be better with customers and planning, while the other handles setup, organization, or the physical side of the event.

15. Start a service business

I have many friends who run service-based businesses together. One couple runs a boat detailing and caretaking business together – they both do the cleaning, maintenance, and handle payments.

A service business can be other types of businesses too, like pressure washing, car detailing, junk hauling, lawn care, furniture assembly, gutter cleaning, or handyman services.

One person can do the main service while the other helps with scheduling, estimates, marketing, or assisting on the job.

I like this kind of side hustle because it can often be started fairly quickly and can grow through referrals.

If you want to do this, think about which services people in your area actually need and what you feel comfortable offering.

16. Manage short-term rentals for other people

Even if you do not own a rental property, you may still be able to make money helping other people manage theirs.

A lot of Airbnb owners need help with guest messages, cleaning coordination, restocking supplies, listing updates, and checking on the property between stays.

I recently met a couple who manage other people’s Airbnbs together. He mainly did the maintenance on the properties, she managed the listings, and they would clean the properties together, or they would outsource that.

This can be a really good fit for couples because one person can handle the online side while the other handles the in-person tasks.

17. Sell at flea markets or farmers markets

Selling in person can be a great side hustle for couples, especially if you enjoy interacting with people and being out and about.

You could sell crafts, baked goods, plants, vintage items, resale products, or handmade goods.

I know a couple who run a farmers market booth together. They sell all things related to honey, like honey, honey chapstick, honey soaps, etc. They do it all together, too – from managing the beehives to making the inventory and selling them at markets.

18. Start a bookkeeping or virtual assistant business

If you want a service-based business that you can run from home, bookkeeping or virtual assistant work can be a great option.

One person may do the client work while the other helps with admin tasks, marketing, invoicing, email, or lead generation (like finding new customers on the Upwork platform).

This can be a really nice side hustle because it usually has low startup costs and can be flexible. It can also grow over time if you decide to take on more clients or offer more services.

19. Create and sell a course or digital product

If the two of you know a lot about a topic, you may be able to turn that knowledge into income.

That could be an online course, ebook, membership, workbook, template, guide, or digital toolkit. One person can create the content while the other works on editing, uploading, customer support, marketing, or sales pages.

This can be a great option if you already have experience in something people want to learn, like gardening, RVing, budgeting, homeschooling, cooking, photography, or a business skill.
